Algo Trading Developer - Energy Trading - £1000pd

We are looking for an experienced Algorithmic Trading Software Developer to join a leading energy trading company, working directly with traders and quantitative teams to build and enhance automated trading systems.
 

Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office)

Rate: Up to £1000 per day (Inside IR35)

Role Overview

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting algorithmic trading systems used in live energy and commodities markets. This role sits close to the trading desk and requires strong technical capability combined with a solid understanding of energy trading workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance algorithmic trading platforms used by front-office trading teams

• Build robust, low-latency services for trade execution and market connectivity

• Work closely with traders, quants, and analysts to translate strategies into production systems

• Integrate with market data feeds, trading venues, and internal risk systems

• Ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and production-ready in a fast-moving trading environment

Technology

• Strong development experience in C# / .NET or Python

• Experience building trading systems, pricing tools, or automated strategies

• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines

• Experience working with real-time market data

Essential Experience

• Energy or commodities trading industry experience

• Experience working closely with front-office trading teams

• Strong understanding of trading workflows and risk considerations

• Production system development within a trading environment

Desirable

• Power, gas, LNG, or broader commodities exposure

• Algorithmic trading strategy implementation

• Cloud or high-performance systems experience

This is a high-impact role working directly with a trading desk where your systems will be used in live markets.
